Quellmax® PLUS is a swellable insert made of sodium bentonite,
polyisobutyl rubber acting as a binding agent, and special fillers and
additives. It is characterized by strong, fast and reliable swelling
(> 500 %), which guarantees tight filling of cracks and gaps. The
insole is covered with a patented, factory-applied, special coating
that protects against weather conditions (e.g. rain), which effectively
delays premature swelling for up to 3 days. The coating reacts to a
high alkaline pH and chemically dissolves upon contact with freshly
poured concrete mix. The process of swelling and shrinkage can
take place many times. The insert has a rectangular profile. Due to
the high content of inorganic ingredients, it reacts to water many
years after installation.
